Chapter of the Year Entry

Each year the National AMA selects its Chapter of the Year, based on many factors.   Your DFW AMA has submitted our entry for this year's award.  This entry is a huge undertaking each year and we want to thank all those involved in getting the job done, including Reagan Cook, Past President 2007-08, Kathy Zielinski, SVP of Special Project and the wonderful team at Peterson Ray & Company.

Below is breif look at the summary from our entry.  Check out the full article to learn some cool and interesting facts you may not have known about the DFW AMA.

“I can see clearly now,” the song says. Perhaps that is the appropriate song highlighting the accomplishments of the DFW Chapter (Dallas Fort Worth) of the AMA for 2007-08. From our experience a clear vision, strong leadership and a passion for focusing on member interests leads to growth and success and future growth.

In 2007-08 the DFW Chapter significantly expanded its outreach and programs over the past year and achieved a significant improvement in delivering substance based on a potent vision, mission and statement of value. Armed with member insights from surveys, we set out to achieve our vision and to establish higher quality programs, growth in membership and greater member participation. Building a stronger team environment and holding each other accountable for performance and results, the board expected and achieved visible movement towards meeting member needs and increased attraction to the DFW AMA. Our path was clear and our achievements testify to the dedication of our volunteers and our leadership.

VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH

Alba Castro
Director Market Research

Congratulations to Alba Castro, our September Volunteer of the Month! Alba was nominated by her DFW AMA peers for her willingness to accept challenging tasks with seemingly impossible deadlines and not only delivering on schedule, but with enthusiasm and professionalism.

Alba shines as the DFW AMA’s Director of Market Research in part because she is able to utilize her skills and experience as a Mary Kay Market Research Analyst.

“This is my first year as a DFW AMA volunteer and I’m looking forward to continuing to work with all of the DFW AMA volunteers and meeting lots of great business people.”

Thank you, Alba, for your service to our organization!

37,810 Opportunities to Enhance Your Career!

Did you know there are 37,810* marketers in the DFW Metroplex? That’s 37,810 opportunities for you to enhance your career!

Among those 37,810, it’s a good bet you’d find:

  • A real gem of an employee you’d given up on finding.
  • The dream job you’ve been seeking.
  • A knowledge expert who’ll stimulate an ‘Aha!’ moment.
  • The services or product vendor who’ll both make your job easier and help you hit your goals.

But with only 700+ of those 37,810 being members of our chapter, and so many people who don’t even know there’s an American Marketing Association chapter in the Metroplex, how are you going to make those valuable connections?

Just like in the Olympics or football, it’s a TEAM EFFORT, that’s how!

  1. Your Board is promoting and publicizing the DFW AMA chapter through the media, and reaching out to other organizations and key corporations.
  2. Your national AMA is engaged in a direct mail campaign to thousands of marketers in the area.
  3. And the key third member of the team is YOU!

Depending on the business you’re in, you may know dozens, or even hundreds, of marketers or others who would benefit from membership in the DFW AMA. And of course they know other marketers…and those marketers know others…and before long, all 37,810 could know there’s a DFW chapter of the American Marketing Association, ready and willing to be of value to them!

“Six degrees of separation” isn’t that far-fetched. The connection you’re seeking could start with just one email or phone call, so we encourage you to bring your friends and associates to our events. Ask your clients and vendors if they’re members of the DFW AMA. Discuss our chapter with members of other industry associations or networking groups to which you belong. It’s easier than you think, and you’ll be very pleasantly surprised at the synergy that results!

The mission of the Dallas/Fort Worth Chapter of the American Marketing Association is to educate, support, and enhance the image of marketing professionals in the DFW Metroplex. Expanding our membership base allows us to offer you even better programs and benefits than we do now.

The Dallas/Fort Worth Chapter of AMA is a very active, exciting marketing organization. I personally have been a member since 2005 and have enjoyed many career benefits and enhancements as a direct result of my membership – including clients, new friends, and my job! We have over 700 members representing every type of marketing discipline, industry, and business entity. For anyone interested in developing your marketing knowledge, looking for resources, building your contact list, and meeting business leaders, membership in our organization is a perfect fit.

We’ve just started our Fall Membership Campaign, and details of the special offers to new members can be found in the article in this newsletter by Kay Altom, our SVP Membership, or at www.marketingpower.com. I urge you to join our team and help spread the word about our dynamic chapter!
